The end of last Saturday night's "Saturday Night Live," with musical guest Kanye West, was about to end on a profane note.

That was until gospel singer Kirk Franklin, who appears on West's latest album and song "Ultra Light Beams," took the stage and offered a closing prayer.

"Father this prayer's for everybody that feels like giving up," he said in the prayer. "This prayer's for everybody who feels like they're not good enough. Everybody that said 'I'm sorry' too many times. Jesus that's why I'm glad you came to give us eternal life. I'm so glad about it!"

You can hear the prayer below starting at the 2:50 mark. Note that this video also has some strong language.

This prayer and performance didn't come without controversy. As Relevant reported, the overall performance drew some criticism because it was peppered with profanity, even though the song included Franklin.

This SNL backlash came after many Christians were similarly upset about Kanye West's decision to call his album a "gospel album" when it also included a number of explicit lyrics.

It was Franklin, though, who rushed to Kanye's aid in a Facebook post about the album. He said Kanye is still redeemable, despite all the criticisms he's received about his irreverent lyrics and behavior.

"That is a dangerous message I believe we send to the world when our posture is they have to meet certain requirements before they are worthy to kiss the ring," Franklin wrote. "It says people are not redeemable, forgivable or candidates for grace. That my friend is religious. I will not turn my back on my brother. I will love him, prayerfully grow with him."
