What is it: Started in France in 1982, World Music Day is now celebrated in more than 120 countries. It doesn't matter if you're a pro or if your singing makes dogs cry - everyone is invited to make music on World Music Day.

Kitchen Bit Banjo: Make your own instrument out of stuff lying around your house.

1.Place your pie tin (or other pan you're using) on the cardstock and trace the shape of the outer edge. In the middle of the paper, trace a smaller circle.

2.Cut out both circles.

3.Decorate one side of the paper.

4.Place the decorated part of the paper facing upward on the pan.

5.Stretch the rubber bands around the tin. They should be centered towards the middle hole in the paper. Choosing different widths of rubber bands will give your banjo different tones.

6.Put a crayon or pencil in between the rubber bands and the paper at the top and bottom of the tin. This gives your strings the space they need to vibrate.

Now your Kitchen Bit Banjo is ready, it's time to create your very own song!
