A quiet Wichita, Kansas neighborhood has been shaken after a disturbing video surfaced showing what police believe may have been an abduction in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 12.
The surveillance footage, captured outside a home in the 1400 block of North Volutsia, shows a woman screaming as a man in dark clothing drags her away. Wichita police released the 20-second clip, hoping someone might recognize the individuals involved.
“The video shows a woman being dragged away from the front door as she screams for help,” authorities explained. Investigators even enhanced the audio to cut through background noise, hoping the woman’s voice would be familiar to someone.

One chilling detail caught in the footage was the woman crying out the name “Kevin” before she was forced back up the driveway and out of sight. Moments later, a car could be heard speeding away. Police say the house did not belong to her.
Police have spent days following up on leads. “We’ve worked throughout the day on this investigation, following up on numerous leads, and we appreciate the public’s help,” the department shared in a post on X.
Investigators are treating the situation as a possible abduction and have enlisted the support of both regional and federal agencies. They are urging anyone who recognizes the man or woman to call 911 immediately or contact detectives at 316-268-4407.
“Your assistance is vital in helping us ensure her safety,” police wrote on Facebook.
Authorities did look into a call from Oklahoma that seemed connected to the case, but later determined it was unrelated.
For many in the community, the video is hard to watch. Residents are now worried about their safety and the safety of their loved ones.
“It’s dangerous. That’s the truth. But, always, I believe there have always been kidnappings,” one woman told KAKE News. She had just returned from visiting family in Mexico and admitted she had never seen anything like this in her neighborhood before.
Another neighbor, Shawntrice Beard, shared with KSN-TV how unsettling the incident has been. “The community, we’re all concerned,” she said. “I stay really close. I say right down the street, I’ve been staying here for approximately over a year now, and like I said, it’s alarming to see this transpire and take place definitely in our community.”
Locals told KWCH-TV that their neighborhood is usually quiet and crime is rare, making the situation even more disturbing.
Police continue to review the video frame by frame, looking for any small clue that might help them identify the people involved. In the meantime, residents are left shaken by the unsettling footage and are praying for answers.
For now, the case remains open and urgent. Authorities are asking the public to study the footage closely and speak up if they recognize anything or anyone. As investigators continue their search, one thing is certain: this Wichita community won’t feel at peace until the mystery is solved.
