Choosing who to marry is one of life's most important decisions. This is the person you'll raise your family with and the one you promise to love for the rest of your life.
Some people meet this special person earlier in life, and get to enjoy the adventure of young married life. Only people who married young will understand these 10 things:
1. You discover who you are together
Living on your own when single allows you to become your own person and discover who you are. Getting married young still allows you to do that, but in a different way. Now you are learning and growing together. You're becoming you - but you also get to see your partner become himself, too. It's exciting (and so adorable).
2. Young married couples have the most fun
You get to have the time of your life with the love of your life. You don't have the pressure of your biological baby clock ticking, so you can take a few years to enjoy time with just your spouse! You don't have your life figured out yet, so you and your sweetheart get to take it on together. It's a wild and amazing adventure.
3. You get way too much advice
Words of wisdom don't only come from your family. All of a sudden strangers will also have a passionate interest in your love life and decisions. You'll get an overwhelming amount of advice if you marry young. But don't shut it all out - most of the people who give you advice know what they're talking about. So give them your time and attention; you could learn a lot.
4. You get even more time with your spouse
Getting married younger means you get that many more years with your spouse. Why wait when you know this is the person you want to be with forever?
5. You're there for each other's biggest moments
Your firsts are usually his firsts, too, and that makes your big moments so much more special. You attend each other's college graduation, kiss him when he's offered his first job and sign the contract together on your first car. You are there for all his important moments, and he is there for all of yours.
6. Your friendship circle gets smaller
Some of your friends think you don't want to go out with them just because you're married - which isn't true. A romantic night alone with your husband is nice, but that doesn't mean you aren't up for a girl's night out. If you're feeling left out, schedule a time to get together with friends and make a new circle of friends as a couple.
7. You get to spend your best years with the love of your life
The part of life you're in now is the bestpart. Whether you are in college, have young kids, are empty-nesters or have grandkids, embrace each stage as it comes. People who marry young experience every exciting stage of life with their spouse. Soak in each moment, because it all comes and goes so quickly.
8. People think you're pregnant
Some people think you're getting married because of an accidental pregnancy. It's annoying, but it blows over once you've been married for six months and people are still waiting for that pregnancy announcement. Satisfy their curiosity with a puppy announcement instead.
9. Some people bet you'll get divorced
Some people will think you're too young to make a serious decision like marriage. Don't let their pessimism drag you down. When you're ready, you're ready. Everyone who truly cares about you will understand that.
10. You'll look back and love the extra years you had together
Despite your ups and downs, you'll look back at your time as husband and wife and be grateful for every moment you spent together.
Marrying young means you make more memories with the love of your life. Some are lucky enough to marry while they're young, but no matter what age you get married, treasure every moment you have with your spouse. Love doesn't have an age limit, so love and love well.
