Dating is one of the best and worst things you will do in life. Finding a good guy to date is difficult, but finding the guy to spend the rest of your life with is even more so.

To figure out if you are with the wrong guy, pay attention to how you feel around him. Consider the following indicators that will tell you if the man you are with isn't right for you:

1. You feel pressured to change

Relationships change people, but you shouldn't feel like you have to change for him. Your unique characteristics will help you stand out from the crowd. If you feel the need to change, change for yourself, not for him.

2. You feel distanced from friends and family

The right man for you will want to spend time with your friends and family. If you feel like he is creating distance between you and your loved ones, it's time to ditch him.

3. You feel ignored or suffocated

Too much or too little attention is disastrous for a relationship. You need a healthy balance of spending time together and apart.

4. You feel inferior

Your man should make you feel like the most amazing woman in the room and treat you as his equal. You shouldn't ever feel anxious to impress him or censor yourself around him, his friends or his family.

5. You feel emotionally drained after spending time with him

When you go out with your man, you should feel happy and uplifted. He shouldn't shouldn't leech all of your energy and leave you exhausted at the end of each day.

6. You feel like the past is never in the past

Both of you have made mistakes in your current and past relationships. When your history continues to be problematic in your relationship, it's time to let go of him. His bringing up the past will stop your relationship from progressing.

7. You don't see your future with him

Your serious relationship indicates potential marriage in the future. If you don't see yourself walking that path with this man, it's time to leave the relationship. There are some women who like to be in a comfortable relationship while they look for a better option. Don't do this to yourself or to the man you are dating, because it makes you deceitful, even if you're not trying to be.

8. You start to avoid him and his kisses

He goes for the goodnight kiss and you turn your face so he kisses your cheek, or maybe when he asks you out, you always have an excuse to turn him down. It's time to break up. He may be a good guy, but that doesn't mean he's the one for you.

9. You have nothing in common

Opposites attract, but if you don't have anything in common, opposites can also crash and burn. If you can't bond over any of your interests, your relationship will not be fulfilling or joyful. You need to have at least some core values and goals in common for your relationship to thrive.

10. You make all or none of the decisions

This can be because of two things: Either you or your partner is indifferent to everything and forces you to make all the decisions. Or, one of you is controlling, and never allows the other to make decisions. Whatever the cause may be, both parties need to have equal opportunities to make decisions and share their opinions.

11. You can't confide in him

Every time you think about telling him something, your gut tells you to stay silent. Since trust is a vital part of a relationship, you won't have a fulfilling relationship with someone you can't confide in. Trust your gut, and if your gut tells you to not trust him, he isn't the right guy.

12. You never have difficult conversations with him

Your conversations never get past the pleasantries. Difficult conversations can include arguments, future endeavors or money. These types of conversations help deepen the emotional bond between you and your man. If you can't have these conversations, your relationship probably doesn't have much of a future.

It's hard to open yourself up to a new relationship, and anxiety about the future can prevent you from leaving a comfortable one. But if he is not right man for you, and if you aren't the right woman for him, it's okay to say goodbye and move on.

Some people advise you not to be too picky, but it's not about being picky, it's all about finding someone who truly loves you and treats you the way you deserve.
