2. He knows all your secrets
What are best friends for if not sharing your deepest, darkest and sometimes dirtiest secrets? Not everyone can be trusted with such sensitive information. But once someone has got the dirt on you, if they treat it with the upmost respect you know you can trust them with anything. He's already seen the skeletons in your closet. If he hasn't run yet, he'll stick by you through anything.
3. He goes to bat for you
Your best mate sticks up for you when you need it. When someone gets in your face, stands in your way or questions your character, he's there to take charge and take names. You need a man who's going to be on your side and on your team when things get tough. He's your biggest ally and has already shown up as your hero.

There's nothing you could do to make him stop caring for you and wanting to be in your life. Even if you suddenly ended your friendship he would still keep tabs on you and leave letters in your mailbox. You'd never be afraid of his love fading if you took things to the next level.

He's seen you cry at the hands of other guys. He knows your crazy family and how insane they make you. He encourages you to focus on your passions and go for that dream job. He'd buy you tampons. He'd come across town in the middle of the night to jump-start your car. He'd even have dinner with your parents just to help you through the night. From body language to the tone of your voice, he can read the subtext of any situation and rescue you from awkwardness or implosion.
