Too many of us have learned the hard way that love isn't enough. Many times, you can end a relationship even though you're still in love because other factors come into play that can overshadow love. Even though your man has fallen for you, he could be pulling away for these eight reasons:

1. He's hung up on his old girlfriend

Believe it or not, it is possible to be in love with two people at once. Obviously, this can cause some complications in your relationships and lead to him walking out. Old relationships can always pop back up, whether he ran into his high school girlfriend walking down the street or works with an ex every day. If your man is making you confused because you can tell he still loves you yet he feels distant, he might still be in love with an old girlfriend too (or even a new girl he met after you).

2. He's scared of commitment

Commitment can be a scary thing, and for some reason, it's generally harder for men than women. Naturally, as your love grows, your relationship will get more and more serious. He's falling for you or already in love, but he can start to pull away from you out of his fear of commitment.

3. He thinks he's not good enough for you

He might truly feel like you're too good for him and that you deserve something better. This usually ties back to his feelings of guilt from past mistakes and his low self-esteem. He might leave you with the mindset of, "I love you enough to let you go on to better things."

4. Something else in his life is taking priority

Some men can be in love with their woman but be more in love with their job or hobby. Just because he loves you doesn't mean you're automatically his number one priority. Whether he's a workaholic or invested in pursuing an interest, you might feel like he's distant because, despite his love for you, you're not his top priority.

5. He's just not to that stage in life yet

He may be falling for you, but that doesn't mean he's ready to settle down and start a family. This is different than a fear of commitment, because sometimes a man isn't scared of ever settling down - he's just not to that point in life yet. We all go through different stages of dating, and though you might be to that marriage point now, he might still be in the "date around and have fun" sort of stage. He loves you - the timing is just not right.

6. He's not willing to put in the work

Once you're passed the easy, floaty-feeling, falling-in-love stage, hard work is your reality. Love takes work, meaningful and thoughtful action and selfless decisions. And the sad thing is, sometimes people aren't willing to put in that work to keep the relationship going. Your man might be one of those people.

7. There's something causing a wedge between the two of you

This is a broad one, but it might help to take a step back and see if there's anything causing prolonged contention between the two of you. Are there any ongoing disagreements or clashing opinions that could be driving a wedge between the two of you despite your love for each other?

8. Your lives are heading down separate paths

Sometimes people love each other, but their future paths just aren't compatible. The most common way this scenario unfolds is when one person needs to move away and the other person doesn't feel it's best to come with them. Whatever your life paths, they might branch off from each other down the road despite his love for you.

Unfortunately, the Beatles were wrong when they said "all you need is love." There are many reasons men leave despite their love for their girl, so it's important to remember that it takes more than just love to make a relationship work.
