Things seem to be going well with your new man, and then all of a sudden they aren't. He stops asking you out. What happened? There was definitely a spark there, so you start analyzing what went wrong. Here are eight reasons why he might lose interest:

1. You focus too much on the future

You don't think too much about the first date, but after the second or third date you start wondering if this guy is "the one." If this sounds like you, that might be the reason why it's not working out. You are thinking about the future while your man is just trying to enjoy the now.

It's okay to sit down and get an idea of what he expects after the third or fourth date. If he is in it for fun and you want a serious relationship, don't keep chasing him.

2. He realizes that he isn't over his ex

Sometimes it will take him a little time to realize that he isn't over his last breakup. The spark between you might be real, but he isn't ready to move on. He'll let the relationship die out and figure out his feelings before asking you out again.

3. You are a victim of your past

If a previous boyfriend told you that you are too clingy then you might become too independent for future relationships. They key is to be yourself. It doesn't matter if a guy in the past disliked you; what matters is you being comfortable with yourself. You will attract the right guy when you don't try to change everything about yourself.

4. His past catches up to him

Everyone has a past, and sometimes people's pasts are filled with demons. His demon could be an addiction, criminal activity or even an ex-girlfriend. He may lose interest because he's fighting with these demons.

5. You are self-absorbed

It's good to be confident about your looks and personality but it's not good to be self-absorbed. If your man thinks you complain too much or are too obsessed with yourself, he'll stop calling.

6. He really is too busy

Maybe he doesn't have the time or desire to pursue a serious relationship. You deserve to have a man who makes time for you. If he can't, it's a good thing that it didn't work out.

7. You ignore social cues

Sometimes guys are not the only ones who miss hints - women do it too. If you miss social cues (like overstaying your welcome or texting him too often) he might stop calling. Pay attention to how people act around you, especially early on in the relationship.

8. His life changed unexpectedly

Imagine you are dating a guy and then he suddenly leaves, without a word. You are angry and heartbroken, until you found out that his parents just died in a car crash and he had to arrange their funeral. Though that is a dramatic example, sometimes his apparant disinterest is because his life has unexpectedly changed.

A man will lose interest for a variety of reasons, and some of them are not your fault. Remember that if you are true to yourself you will find a man who loves and respects you for who you are.
