Forget the "become a better kisser" advice found in magazines. The truth to being a stellar smoocher is in the pudding — or rather, in these eight snacks:

1. Double scoop

A container of Ben and Jerry's with a spoon might be the best remedy for a breakup, but an ice cream cone is one of the best treats for practicing your kisses. Swirl an extra tall soft serve cone or order up a double scoop of whatever flavors you like, and get practicing. Yum!

2. Sea salt and caramel

This treat is already oh-so-romantic, but it also works great at helping you to learn to savor your kisses instead of casually smooching. Next time you're out and about, snag a bar of expensive chocolate — the kind that comes in fancy packaging. This technique works best when practiced (eaten) every hour or so while watching your favorite flick.

3. Pho please

The trendy Vietnamese soup is not only delicious, but is also a great way to get your lips ready for your date Friday night. While noisily slurping long noodles may not be attractive, your lips are getting a fabulous work out in the "peck position." Pro tip: add in some Sriracha if you like it spicy and want your lips to tingle.

4. Rock 'n' roll

The electric feeling of a good kiss is hard to recreate, but one particular treat does a decent job: Tear open a bag of Pop Rocks to give your mouth a chance to get used to the pops and snaps of a swoon-worthy smooch. Be warned: not every lip lock will be as exciting as a bag of Pop Rocks; but if you practice, you will be ready for the ones that are.

5. Life's lemons

When life gives you lemons, slice them up and eat them like an orange. No other fruit can give you the pucker practice that eating a lemon slice can.

6. Red and delicious

To be the apple of someone's eye, you better get to eating a bushel or two of the juicy fruit to make sure your kisses are on point. Really, any type of apple will do to get your mouth in shape for a smooching session. Eating the fruit whole is preferable to munching on slices, and I'm afraid you don't get any points for eating apple pie. Bonus: Apples help clean your teeth.

7. Shake it

Speaking of sipping, ordering a milkshake with your lunch is an excellent way to step up your kissing game. Drink it quickly with a straw to help your lips pucker up, and embrace the brain freeze. It's a good way to recreate being caught off guard by a particularly romantic kiss. Your brain could use the practice, so you should probably order a pre- and post-dinner milkshake.

8. Hey, Dum Dum

Switch from chewing gum to sucking on sugar if you want your kisses to be extra sweet. Stash a bag in your car, purse and desk so you will be consistent with your workouts.

Regardless of this list's validity, what's the harm in adding a bit more sweetness into your afternoon?
