Moving into a new-to-you home can sometimes mean finding belongings (or trash) left by whoever used to live there.

For one family, they found something very personal - a love letter had literally slipped through the cracks and became lost until it was found during renovations.

A 72-year old love letter

Melissa Fahy and her husband found the letter. They think the note was dropped when belongings were being moved into the home's attic, according to Inside Edition. The letter, postmarked in May 1945, has stayed hidden for seven decades.

Written by Virginia Christoffersen to her husband, Rolf, the letter is now yellowed with age but still full of the tenderness of the past. A couple of the sweet lines (shared by Inside Edition) are:

"Are you as lonesome for me as I am for you?"

"I love you Rolf, as I love the warm sun, and that is what you are to my life, the sun about which everything else revolves for me."

Finding the lovebirds, years later

Consumed by the love within those words, Fahy knew she had to locate the family. She posted about it on Facebook and quickly found the rightful owners. The man the letter was written to, Rolf, is now 96 and a widower. His wife Virginia passed away six years earlier.

Emotions were high as Robin, the Christoffersen's daughter, read the letter written by her mother to her father. Husband Rolf was also grateful, saying "Thank you for saving that letter, we're really gonna enjoy that."

What a treasured gift that is to have a precious letter returned all these years later and to relive beautiful memories.
