Emily Ratajkowski recently opened up about why she didn't have the courage to end her marriage sooner to movie producer Sebastian Bear-McClard. Ratajkowski appeared on the podcast "Going Mental With Eileen Kelly," where she opened up about her divorce, saying for a long time, she "didn't have the courage to leave." The pair was together for quite some time before ending things with rumors swirling that the reason for the split was due to Bear-McClard's unfaithfulness.

Ratajkowski revealed that the reason she has kept the details of their divorce quiet is due to legal reasons since their divorce is not finalized and for the sake of their son. She did reveal that there was a time in their relationship when she was "really, really unhappy." She added saying, “I was 100 pounds, and I just had a baby, and I got really skinny because I was not OK.” When asked what gave her the final push to leave the relationship, Ratajkowski stated that a line was crossed and that the decision was "so clear" at that point.

The actress and film producer were friends for years before they began seeing each other in 2018. Just weeks after they announced that they were dating, they shocked fans when Ratajkowski posted on Instagram in February 2018 that the pair had gotten married. Ratajkowski spoke about their engagement on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," where she said Bear-McClard didn't have a ring. "He took the paper clip that the bill was paid with and made me a ring, which I actually thought was really romantic," said the actress. In March 2021, the pair welcomed their son, Sylvester Apollo Bear, before announcing just months later that they were calling it quits.

“I think so much of what I learned coming out of that relationship is to trust your instincts, and gaslighting is a real thing,” said Ratajkowski. “I didn’t understand that it was actually going to be so nice to come back to myself.”
