Kristin Cabot, the 52-year-old former Astronomer HR executive, has officially filed for divorce from her husband, Andrew Cabot, less than a month after the infamous Coldplay kiss-cam incident that went viral this summer.

Court documents reviewed by the Daily Mail show that Kristin filed the divorce petition on August 13 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The move came after she was caught on camera cuddling with married Astronomer CEO Andy Byron at a July 16 Coldplay concert. The clip, paired with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin’s quip about them looking like “they’re either having an affair or they’re just very shy,” spread quickly online, sparking both gossip and consequences.

Though the public scandal may have accelerated things, the couple’s relationship was already in trouble. Andrew Cabot, a descendant of a well-known Boston Brahmin family and CEO of Privateer Rum, reportedly brushed off the news when confronted. “I texted Andrew right after it happened, and he said: ‘Her life is nothing to do with me,’ and said they were separating,” his ex-wife, Julia Cabot, told the Daily Mail.

Julia, who was married to Andrew for four years until their 2018 split, said his reaction was typical. “He’s saying it has nothing to do with him, even though they were married and shared a house. But then, the only thing he cares about is money,” she explained. She didn’t mince words in her assessment: “I wouldn’t say he’s husband material. But she doesn’t seem like wife material either.”

Julia described her 63-year-old ex as arrogant and self-absorbed. “That’s why after it happened, I got loads of texts from people with that word: karma. It was like: what you give, you get. Personally, I don’t think he’s affected by what happened at all. I don’t think his feelings are hurt. He’s probably embarrassed, if anything,” she said.

She added, “He’s a Boston Brahmin, that’s their code: ‘This isn’t anything to do with me.’ His ego is too big to be affected by this and the only thing that he’s bummed about is that he was embarrassed. He’s not a nice person. Now something not nice happened to him.”

Some sources, however, believe the Cabots may be downplaying the scandal by claiming their marriage was already ending. One insider told the Mail, “The family is now saying they have been having marriage troubles for several months and were discussing separating, which I find interesting since, as of a month ago, they were saying how in love they are.”

If history is any guide, Kristin and Andrew’s split may not be simple. Julia Cabot’s divorce from Andrew dragged on for two years, ending with her walking away with $1 million, a $1.9 million home, and a Jaguar.

To complicate matters further, Kristin and Andrew had only recently bought a $2.2 million coastal home in New Hampshire, just five months before the scandal erupted. How the assets will be divided remains to be seen — but one thing is certain: the fallout from the Coldplay kiss-cam moment has left a lasting mark on the Cabot family.
