Love is blind (no really, research says) and one-sided love is heartbreaking. So if you are so blind in love, how can you recognize when you have fallen for a man who hasn't fallen for you? Luckily most guys give pretty obvious hints that they are not interested - here are five:

1. There are other girls

You see the other girls around your crush as competition, but if you watch carefully you'll see that he's actually flirting with these other girls. It's a huge red flag when he talks to you about his current, past or potential relationships. This kind of conversation says that he respects your insight as a woman, but he isn't considering dating you.

If your crush returned your feelings, he would be spending time with you, not other girls (and he wouldn't ask you for advice when it came to dating).

2. He avoids you

Let's say you're at a party and your crush is there too...but every time you spot him he seems to mysteriously disappear, even after you thought you made eye contact. He most likely is disappearing on purpose. He could feel uncomfortable around you, he could be trying to avoid you, or he could simply not want to be seen talking with you.

Another way of avoiding you is through text messages or social media. If he doesn't accept your friend request it could be because he doesn't remember you or just doesn't like you. With texting, giving two-word answers and never initiating a conversation is a sign he's not interested.

3. His body language is closed

His body language can tell you a lot about his feelings. If he likes you he'll most likely have a strong, open body posture (like his shoulders back and hands on the side of his body), and he will mirror your body language.

If he doesn't like you, he'll face his shoulders away from you, probably won't have an open body language. He will have a fake smile or not make eye contact for very long. He definitely won't try to break the touch barrier. In fact, if he doesn't like you he will probably avoid any physical contact at all.

4. He treats you like a sister

No one wants to hear their crush refer say "oh, no I don't like her like that. She's like my sister," when a mutual friend asks how he feels about you.

If you haven't heard you man say those words exactly, watch how he interacts with his other friends. If he doesn't treat you differently from them, then he considers you a friend.

5. He doesn't remember things about you

You have told him your birthday, all about your family and your hobbies, but he can't remember a thing. To put it bluntly, that means he doesn't like you. It shows he hasn't really been listening during your conversations together and isn't trying to get to know you.

Perhaps the man you are crushing on doesn't like you, but there is someone out there who will. You want to be with someone who sees how incredible you are. You deserve to be loved by someone who wants to be with you in public, who remembers the little details and who isn't afraid to let anyone know that you are his.
